Pradhan Mantri National Health Protection Mission (PM-NHPM)

The Government of India is launching Pradhan Mantri National Health Protection Mission (PM-NHPM) to provide health protection to cover poor, vulnerable and downtrodden families of  rural and urban areas. PM-NHPM will subsume the existing Rastriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY Scheme) and will have a defined benefit cover upto Rs.5.00 lakhs per family per year (on a family floater basis) with no cap on family size and age of the family members.
This Insurance cover will be able to take care of almost all secondary care and most of tertiary care procedure at any of the empanelled hospitals across the country and would be cashless and paperless at any empanelled hospitals. The beneficiaries shall not be required to pay any charge for the hospitalization expenses. The benefit also includes pre and post hospitalization expenses. The scheme is an entitlement based and entitlement of the beneficiary is decided on the basis of family being figured in Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) database.
